Founded in 1953, Department of Hematology, Children's Hospital of Fudan University has evolved over decades into a nationally leading center for pediatric hematological and oncological diseases, excelling in clinical care, teaching, and research. Recognized for its preeminence, the department is designated as a National Clinical Key Specialty by the National Health Commission. Operating at a significant scale, the department admits over 3,000 pediatric inpatients and manages more than 30,000 specialized outpatient visits annually. It provides comprehensive care for a large cohort of children with malignancies, those requiring transplantation, and those with refractory hematological disorders, supported by a full spectrum of advanced medical technologies. Pioneering hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) since the 1990s, the department holds multiple HSCT accreditations and possesses extensive experience. It established a specialized Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) for curing rare diseases via HSCT, successfully treating hundreds of patients with conditions such as congenital immunodeficiency disorders and inherited metabolic diseases. The department exerts substantial influence within the profession. It has served as the Vice-Chair Unit of the Hematology Group under the Chinese Medical Association Pediatrics Society. Furthermore, it actively participates in formulating national-level diagnosis and treatment guidelines and serves as a core member in several nationwide clinical research collaborative groups. Committed to balanced development across clinical practice, teaching, and research, the department secures major research grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Key R&D Program of China, and Shanghai Municipal Major Scientific Research Projects. Its research excellence is underscored by awards including the Shanghai Medical Science and Technology Progress Second Prize and Third Prize. The department is a significant training hub, educating numerous Master's and PhD students, conducting teaching at various levels, and accepting specialized physician trainees nationwide. It maintains robust international collaborations with renowned institutions such as Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center (USA), Children's Hospital Los Angeles (USA), and Hong Kong Children's Hospital. Leveraging the "Sunshine Hut" platform, the department collaborates with social organizations to conduct impactful public welfare activities, garnering widespread recognition. Its distinguished honors include the Fudan University "March 8th" Red Banner Collective, Shanghai "May 1st" Women's Pacesetter Post, National Health System Women's Pacesetter Post, and the Shanghai Municipal Health Commission "Youth Civilization Post".
